Negative Man, the alter ego of Larry Trainor, is a core member of the Doom Patrol superhero team. A former United States Air Force pilot, Trainor was exposed to a radioactive field in orbit, crashing his plane and binding his body to a negative energy entity. While the accident left him severely burned and radioactively charged—requiring special lead-lined bandages to protect others—it also granted him the ability to project a shadowy, intangible negative spirit from his body for short periods.
